Vesture Hot Pack-Replacement Microcore Pac for Casserole Carriers (Red Pack For Microwave Heating)

Glad replacements are available
I have used my insulated food carrier for over 15 years, so I guess last night's explosion in my microwave can't really be considered a serious problem. In fact, I love this system and use it very often. The heated core really keeps a hot casserole hot for quite a long time. However, beware - when it overheats, first the cover puffs up alarmingly. I've observed this several times in the past. Last night, however, multitasking (like getting dressed to go to the party I'd made the lasagne for) caused disaster in the form of an exploded cover. I have heated it that length of time dozens of times, but maybe the cover eventually gets weaker? At any rate, try to keep your eye on it when you are heating the core - if it puffs, turn the microwave off immediately and remove the core. On the really plus side - there was absolutely no mess in my oven, and I went ahead and used the heated element to keep my lasagne warm last night!

Really Hot Pack
This Hot Pack is really great! It stays Hot forever. It is much thicker than the one it replaced and seems to be made of thicker covering. The last potluck I attended I used it to keep my food item hot and when I left the potluck for home my dish was still hot, after 4 hours.

Great replacement
I purchased this as a replacement for the heat pads that came with my Pyrex Portables several years ago. The original ones were just worn out. These work great. They are slightly larger than the original ones but still fit in the intended slots.

Pillivuyt 2.75 Quart Round Covered Casserole, White

Generously sized casserole
This casserole is well proportioned and holds about 2 3/4 quarts. The reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the poorly designed lid handle which can be somewhat difficult to grasp safely, especially when using a potholder. It can slip out of your grip if you don't support the lid base because of its' weight, it is rather heavy, so care has to be used. Otherwise the casserole itself is well supported by the "ears" during oven to table transfer, you don't have to worry about it slipping out of your hands. I love all Pillivuyt products for their durability and lead free glazed finishes which make clean up so easy. I think another advantage to this casserole is that both the style and color lend itself to everyday casual or formal dining. Even with the poorly designed lid handle, I would still recommend this.

Le Creuset Stoneware Petite Bell Pepper Casserole, Citrus

cute & heat distribution unsurpassed but......
I am a big fan of Le Creuset products in general and own many pieces. I like this pepper, however the biggest plus are really the aesthetics, and of course, the heat distribution. Doesn't clean well. I have a collection of these.. pumpkin, the red heart, tomato and another pepper. They are somehow nicer to diplay than actually use. They do not accommodate a large enough quantity of food. Maybe Boeuf Bourgongne for 2? It is difficult to maneuver once it is in the oven because there are no handles and it is hard to grasp for checking, adding stuff, stirring etc. So i give it a "4" generously.

Cute but very small
Yet another cute product from Le creuset. But it is rather small and I dont find many uses for it. Another thing to note is this product is not made in france but made in taiwan. I got it free with another le creuset product and I am not sure if I would have bought it for the 25$ price tag otherwise.

Lenox Butler's Pantry Large Rectangular Baker

beautiful dish
Gave as a gift to match the china pattern and was surprised at how much prettier it looked and larger than it did in the photo. Very glad I bought it as a gift and I think it can be used to display as well as bake.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 5-Quart Buffet Casserole, Kiwi

Our Best Pan
I bought this casserole last year after debating over all of the Le Creuset pots and casseroles on which one would be the most versatile - and believe me, this casserole is the one! It handles any kind of stovetop cooking with ease (it's a FABULOUS risotto pan) and it goes into the oven with no problems, lid or no lid. It also serves as a beautiful pan to bring to the table but be sure to put something under it to protect your table surface because this pan is cast iron and retains heat very well. It is incredibly heavy but it's performance easily makes up for that. Be sure to follow the manufacturer insrtuctions (hand wash and dry immediately, no metal utensils, and no harsh scrubbing) and your pan will certainly become your new favorite piece of cookware you own.

The usual wonderful Le Creuset quality, but HEAVIER than most
A great pan, as usual with Le Creuset, but VERY HEAVY. Our household is used to Le Creuset (the 7-quart round is probably our most-used size), but this 5-quart and it's lid are deemed extraordinarily heavy. We use it, and we're glad to have it, but wouldn't recommend it for weaklings.

A favorite pan. Absolutely great.
I bought the very wide 5 quart size with some trepidation, since we usually cook just for the two of us. To my surprise we use it all the time. Even cooking for two, very often you'd like to be able to cook something in a single layer in the pan. For instance, in this wide pan you can braise an entire bunch of asparagus spread out in one layer. The iron conducts the heat out to the edges. Perfect.

Our kitchen is black, white and stainless, like many. If yours is like that I highly recommend the Flame color. I thought it might be too strong and it's not. It's warm and happy. This was our first Le Creuset pan and we have continued with that color.

As for the pan being heavy, I'm not sure it is heavier than a big round casserole, but it is less stable to carry because it is wider and shallower. If you have it full of a stew, yes, you might want to plate that dish from the stove :-) I also carry the lid separately if at all.

When you preheat the pan, if...

Le Creuset 2.25 Quart Braiser - Flame

As if the French oven wasn't enough...
I bought the casserole, and let me tell you, everything I love about the French oven is present right here. Wider than the oven, it is, of course, shallower, but it still holds a healthy amount of food. Certainly it's big enough for a good-size casserole. It's also great for browning meat before baking. I find that pork chops (holds four small or 3 porterhouse chops comfortably) browned in a little olive oil, then smothered in vegetables and slow baked (covered, always covered!) at about 325 in this casserole, turn out moist and juicy and tender, with a gorgeous brown sauce that you can turn into gravy or just spoon over the chops. The vegetables emerge aromatic and tender. Everyone is happy, and the world spins contentedly for one more night. This is a high quality piece of kitchenware; since I got the French oven I've been sold on Le Creuset, and I'm here to sing its praises. Things don't burn unless you're not paying attention, and cleanup is a marvel. Who needs non-stick when you...

BBQ, Jambalaya, Chicken Curry, you-name-it
This wonderful pot is a cross between a dutch oven and a large heavy skillet. The bottom has about the same surface area as the 7-quart le Creuset french oven (big enough for a whole brisket or a large cut-up chicken), but the sides are half as high.

The large browning surface and shallow profile make this just the thing for dishes that involve browning meat or chicken, and then pouring on a sauce to slowly simmer and concentrate. The heavy lid makes the pot perfect for slow, wet, braising of tough cuts of meat like back ribs - once the dish is done the pan goes right onto the stovetop to deglaze. Jambalaya turns out beautifully: sweat some onions, celery, and peppers over low heat, brown some sausage or smoked meat, and pour in the rice and liquid - the heavy lid does wonders for the rice, and once the dish is done the whole thing can be brought to the table to serve from.

The only drawback to this pot is that you can't carve in it - slicing up a brisket or corned beef would...

Much More than a Casserole
I first started seeing this pan on Giada De Laurentis' cooking show "Everyday Italian" when I began collecting Le Creuset. I didn't know it as a casserole at the time since it more resembles the "Everyday Pans" being sold by manufactuers like Calphalon and All-Clad.

Of course, you can use it as a casserole and it's the perfect size for macaroni and cheese, fruit cobbler, or chicken and dumplings. However, it is also a great saute and fry pan: steaks and chops brown beautifully; it's great for making a quick pasta sauce; it fries chicken like a champ; risotto cooks slowly and evenly; and it's even big enough for a small to medium roast. In fact, I like it so much I got the five quart model for big batches of paella and larger roasts like turkeys and hams.

Not only is this pan a joy to use and look at, it's also easy to care for. It can go in the dishwasher, but really all it needs is a little soak and the caked on food just comes off with a scrubby sponge or...

Mert Steel 4.8 Quart Casserole

nice surprise in the end
I, also, bought this pot (4.8 qt) based on the photo. I was not happy to find that what i had ordered wasn't a pressure cooker, however, I was happy to see that the pot was going to get use in my kitchen. I probably never would have ordered this pot intentionally but i kept it anyway. I really like it.

it has a thermometer on the lid (lid not oven or dishwasher safe) this pot is nice for sauces and soups... but don't be tricked it's not a pressure cooker.

A pot good! Stays Hot!
Heats evenly, retains the most moisture of any pot ever used. Big enought for large birds and roasts. The merthometer in the lid is an added bonus, especially if you're fluent in Celcusese.
A dandy delight in the cooking depaartment!

Love the thermometer!
I love this little casserole pan. The built-in food thermometer is great for small-batch candy-making (and other foods if desired). Smaller size is hard to find, and I've searched for this size for some time. Perfect size for cooking for one or two. Good quality.
